Parco del Colle Oppio - Landscape Restoration
MLA Project, Sapienza University of Rome
A restoration proposal aimed at recovering the spatial and ecological coherence of a historically significant Roman park. The project responds to the contrast between the original minimalist design, characterized by open views, structured planting, and clear circulation, and a current condition of overgrown vegetation, obstructed sightlines, and reduced functionality.
Interventions reorganize vegetation layers, replace unsuitable species, and restore key views toward the Colosseum. Eroded paths are reshaped, groundcovers introduced for stabilization, and seating integrated into slopes to reactivate underused areas. The result is a more legible, ecologically sound, and microclimatically responsive urban landscape.
